The condition is the length of piping between floor drains and their associated traps. While this may seem to be an insignificant item, I think that once you consider all of the associated implications, the situation may become of more concern. I asked him to go back and review how the code defines a plumbing fixture. It should be noted that the other model plumbing codes contain the same language as the IPC. Why is this an issue? The longer the tailpiece, the faster the water is moving when it gets to the trap and the less likely it is to refill the trap properly with tail flow after the effluent stops. This can be compounded by improper venting of the floor drain, but I will not try to explain all of the intricacies of proper venting in this short column, as many books already have been written on that subject. So what does that really mean? It means that we are less likely to have traps that are functioning to keep sewer gases out of occupied areas of a building. It will drive a person crazy trying to keep traps filled with water when the water simply moves through the trap anyway.

There are basically two ways to get the water into your RV… by connecting a hose to the city water inlet, or by filling your fresh water holding tank. Use a hose that is safe to use for drinking water. If you connect to the city water inlet, always use a pressure regulator. If you fill the fresh water holding tank, make sure the drain valve if there is one is closed.
If the tank has a vent tube or valve, the tank will fill faster if the vent is opened. If the water chugs, glugs or spits back at you when filling the tank, either the tank does not have a vent, the vent is plugged or the vent is shut off. Turn the water faucet down a bit and let the tank fill at its own slow pace. Just turn on the faucets. At first, the water may sputter a bit due to air inside the lines, so let the water run until all the air has been purged from the lines.

I did this when I got home, the string I used was being pulled almost four times as strongly on the first floor air return as on the second as determined by how far away from the vent it would pull the string in. I blocked one of the two vents downstairs with some boxes and it wasn’t super great, but it at least actually had some pressure to pull at the string now.
I’ll leave it like that for a day or two and see if it helps. I am not a contractor or hvac professional. I just take the time to learn about things so that I understand how they work. It’s just part of my personality. I concur with your conclusion that the intakes on the main floor are too large. I believe one of you said that one register was double-stacked. That would be the first thing I would remedy. I would start with simply taping a piece of cardboard over one of them.

Loose water sucks on so many levels. There are two areas where flexible hoses are used. The laundry room for your washer and your water heater. The Natural Handyman has a good posting on Laundry hoses which applies to Water Heater hoses as well. It makes sense in both locations as both your washer and water heater have limited life spans and at some point will need replacement. Both manufacturers are in the business of moving product and not making your life easier.
Probably the best illustration of this is washer commercials. They talk about features, capacity, colors, etc. None of them talk about longevity or only needing one. One of the more important connections in your plumbing supply are the connections at your water heater. The cold water supply into the water heater, and the hot water outlet for your house. This is most often accomplished with a flexible hose.

Absolutely everyone understands in the back of their minds that appliance repairs are an inevitable portion of dwelling ownership, but the prevailing belief is the fact that the longer that cost may be postponed, the much better. Assuming that this is a good-quality appliance brand and does not have any manufacturing defects, a nicely maintained appliance really should deliver trouble-free use for several years. Even though some appliances can final for as much as 15 years and longer, there are many variables affecting when you happen to be likely to really need to call in an appliance fix corporation.

Most of these kinds of fittings are compression style, aren’t they? The secret is to tighten them just enough to seal. On next disassembly, do the same, just enough to recompress. Over-tightening them does not make them seal better and often intensifies the leak or cracks the nut. Once they start to leak, you throw the piping and nuts away and start over again. It’s why the braided hoses are in vogue now.

Most houses built in the last few years have shut off valves installed on the hot and cold supply lines running to taps in kitchens and bathrooms. A shut off valve allows you to turn off the water supply to an individual tap, but still leave the water on in the rest of the house. If you’ve ever had to turn off the water in the whole house just to replace an appliance, you understand how individual valves can make everybody’s life easier.
If you live in an older house or your builder didn’t put shut off valves into your pipes, you might want to consider adding them yourself.

I should be able to figure this out. Anyway, We carried the old one out and fit the new one in it’s place. Drain line and electrical are piece of cake. It’s the water supply line that I can’t get connected. I guess I need some sort of adapter. The garden hose style end fits the dishwasher perfectly, in fact this is the part that was branded for Whirlpool dishwashers. Now the current supply line fit onto an elbow on an old 80’s model Maytag Jetclean. The actual supply line is soldered into a valve under the kitchen sink, so there’s no real way to replace it with a braided hose, unless I take some plumbing lessons or buy the equipment and wing it from watching YouTube videos.
The copper supply line is flexible enough though so that I can get it to line up with the new dishwasher’s elbow. So if it will meet up, why replace it, right. Thing is, I was at Home Depot today and I couldn’t find anything to fit.
